Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after two people were killed in a crash in Laharum yesterday.
A white Kenworth semi-trailer was travelling north-west when it crashed into the rear of a Holden sedan turning into a rest stop on the Western Highway about 12.20pm.
The Holden was pushed into oncoming traffic.
A Toyota sedan travelling in the opposite direction collided with the passenger side of the Holden.
The passenger of the Holden, a 42-year-old Ararat woman, and the driver of the Toyota, a 71-year-old Horsham woman died at the scene.
The driver of the Holden, a 36-year-old Black Range man, was airlifted to hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The uninjured truck driver, a 48-year-old Dartmoor man, was arrested at the scene.
He has since been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing serious injury.
He is appearing at the Horsham Magistrates' Court today.
