Police Charge Man After Fire At Eden

A man has been charged following a fire in the state's south.

About 4:45am on Wednesday 4 December 2024, emergency services were called to a school in Barclay Street, Eden following reports of a fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers extinguished the fires prior to police arrival.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District allegedly located three Molotov cocktails and the school was declared a crime scene.

The total estimated damage is believed to be in excess of $160,000.

At 5pm yesterday, 11 December 2024, police executed a search warrant at a property in Emblem Street, Eden where a 58-year-old man was arrested.

He was taken to Eden police station and charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Commit Serious Indictable offence
  • Malicious Damage by Fire and Explosive (three counts)

He was refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court today, Thursday 12 December 2024.
