Homicide Squad detectives have this afternoon charged a man following the death of a woman in Footscray last week.
A 35-year-old Footscray man was arrested at his home address this afternoon.
He was interviewed by investigators and has subsequently been charged with one count of murder.
He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
The charge follows an incident where police were called to a welfare check at a Cowper Street address just after 8pm on Friday, 29 November.
A 62-year-old Footscray woman was located deceased inside the house.
Investigators will allege the woman was killed in the early hours of the morning of Wednesday, 27 November.
