A man has been charged with multiple driving-related offences following a pursuit with police in the state's north east.
About 3.15pm yesterday (Thursday 13 August 2020), officers attached to Oxley Police District received reports concerning the manner of driving of a Holden Commodore sedan travelling southbound of the Moonbi Ranges, near Moonbi.
A short time later, police sighted the sedan travelling on the Moore Creek Road towards Tamworth and when it failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.
Police will allege the vehicle reached speeds of up to 150km/h in a signposted 60km/h zone on Browns Lane and the pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
About 4.15pm the same day, the Holden was involved in a second pursuit on the Gap Road at Werris Creek. The pursuit was also terminated due to safety concerns.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, and a female occupant got out of the Holden on the Kamilaroi Highway south of Breeza where they were arrested a short time later.
The pair were taken to Tamworth Police Station where the driver was charged with police pursuit – drive dangerously, drive while disqualified, use unregistered vehicle, and use uninsured vehicle.
He was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 14 August 2020).
The woman was released without charge.
