Police Charge Man After Home Invasion At Hurstville

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged home invasion in Sydney's south last month.

On Sunday 18 August 2024 officers from St George Police Area Command were called to Patrick Street, Hurstville, after reports two males had forced entry to a home armed with a pistol and with their faces concealed.

The intruders threatened the occupants– two males aged 21 and 17 – before allegedly assaulting the older man.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries. The teenager was uninjured.

The males wearing the face covering allegedly stole an amount of cash from the home before running from the location.

Following investigations, a search warrant was executed at Docos Crescent in Bexley today (Tuesday 3 September 2024) and subsequently a 19-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with five offences:

  • Special aggravated break and enter - armed with dangerous weapon
  • Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit serious indictable offence
  • Intimidation
  • Trespass
  • Acquire firearm subject to fire prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 3 September 2024) where he was remanded in custody to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 29 October 2024.
