Police Charge Man After House Fire At Tocumwal

A man has been charged following a suspicious house fire in the State's south.

About 5am (Wednesday 21 August 2024), emergency services were called to Finley Street, Tocumwal in relation to a house on fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze about an hour later. The fire caused significant damage.

There was no one home at the time.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District responded and established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries by Deniliquin detectives, about 2.00pm yesterday ( Wednesday 21 August 2024), police attended a house in Murray Street, Tocumwal and arrested a 46-year-old man.

He was taken to Finley Police Station where he was charged with damage/destroy property by fire.

He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Thursday 22 August 2024).
