Police Charge Man After House Fire - Casula

A man has been charged with allegedly setting fire to a house in Sydney's southwest earlier today.

About 12.30pm today (Monday 9 September 2024) emergency services were called to Strawberry Road, Casula following reports of a house fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, however the house sustained significant damage.

Three occupants escaped the fire without injury.

A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist police.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command commenced an investigation and arrested a 46-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire/explosive.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 10 September 2024).
