Police Charge Man After Kidnapping - Campbelltown PAC

A man has been charged following an alleged kidnapping in the Campbelltown area last night.

About 5pm (Wednesday 21 August 2024), officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command responded to a concern for welfare, where it was believed a firearm was involved.

Police were told a 26-year-old man was allegedly armed with a firearm and was holding a 29-year-old woman, known to him, against her will.

Police established a coordinated response involving officers from Campbelltown City and Camden Police Area Commands, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Dog Unit, Public Order Riot Squad and Tactical Operations Unit, to locate the man and woman, who drove to various locations including Kearns, Raby and Catherine Fields.

About 8.45pm, police found the woman and man on Badgally Road, Claymore.

The man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), common assault and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday 22 August 2024).

Police will allege in court the man assaulted the woman during the incident.

No firearm was located and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
