A man is due to appear in court today charged after an alleged stand-off with police in Macquarie Fields yesterday.
About 11.20am (Wednesday 17 January 2024), officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Henderson Road, Ingleburn.
Police will allege the man failed to stop as directed and continued to Saligna Way, Macquarie Fields, where he crashed into a fence before exiting the vehicle and running into a nearby house, refusing to leave.
A perimeter was established and specialist officers from the Negotiations Unit, Tactical Operations Group and Dog Unit were called to the scene.
About 5pm, a 24-year-old man was arrested without further incident and taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with eight offences,
- Armed with intent to commit indictable offence
- Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Not stop vehicle when directed to do so
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Not give particulars to owner of damaged property
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
He has been refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday 18 January 2024).
