Police have charged a man following an alleged theft and stabbing in Maryborough on Sunday, 21 April.
The man approached a 46-year-old woman in High Street about 7pm.
The woman attempted to deposit cash into an ATM before the man allegedly took the cash from the machine and fled the area.
It is understood the same man approached a second woman in Tuaggra Street about 6.30pm.
Officers were told the man allegedly made a demand for the woman's car before slashing her with a box cutter.
The 39-year-old woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man fled the scene in a taxi, before officers located him on the Pyrenees Highway a short time later.
The 29-year-old man was arrested and transported to hospital for assessment under police guard.
He has been charged with carjacking with an offensive weapon, assault with intent to rob, intentionally cause injury, theft, deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, and weapon offences.
He will appear at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court today.
