Police Charge Man After Meredith Collision Last Year

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Meredith last year.

It is alleged a silver Holden Commodore ran into the back of a white Suzuki Ignis about 6am on 17 January 2023.

The Ignis then collided with a silver Toyota Hilux at the intersection of McLeod Street.

A passenger in the Suzuki, a 29-year-old Gisborne woman, died at the scene.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 32-year-old Gisborne man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The two occupants of the Hilux were not injured.

The driver of the Commodore, a 24-year-old Bonshaw man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He was interviewed by detectives and later charged with culpable driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

The Bonshaw man will appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on 28 October, 2024.
