Police Charge Man After Mulgrave Police Shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a man following a police shooting in Mulgrave this morning.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with 21 offences, including reckless conduct endangering life, prohibited person possess firearm, aggravated carjacking, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

The Noble Park man was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 4 June.

The charges follow an alleged evade and the subsequent intercept of a vehicle on Police Road just before 5.30am.

A 29-year-old woman, who was in the car and was allegedly armed with a firearm, was shot by police after a confrontation occurred.

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where she remains under police guard.

The man was arrested at the scene.

An investigation into the matter is underway with oversight by Professional Standards Command, as is standard practice when a police firearm is discharged.
