Police Charge Man After Multiple Aggravated Burglaries

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a Fitzroy North man following a spate of aggravated burglaries across Melbourne's northeast last night.

Police will allege the man gained access to numerous residential and business premises across Fitzroy and Fitzroy North between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, 6 June.

Officers have been told the man allegedly stole a number of items, including an iPhone, TV and Apple Airpods.

The man was arrested on Fenwick Street, Fitzroy North.

Police will allege the man was involved in aggravated burglaries at the following locations:

• 7.30pm, Fitzroy Street, Fitzroy

• 8.35pm, Brunswick Street, Fitzroy North

• 8.50pm and 8.55pm, Rae Street, Fitzroy North

• 9.30pm, Nicholson Street, Fitzroy North

The man was confronted by occupants at several locations and fled on foot, no one was physically injured.

A 44-year-old Fitzroy North man has been charged with offences including aggravated burglary, burglary and theft.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 June.

Detectives were able to return the majority of the stolen items to their owners, however they are still in possession of a stolen mobile phone and TV.
