Police Charge Man After Officer Struck In Point Cook

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a collision in Point Cook that left a police officer in hospital at the weekend

Police allegedly located two people inside a stolen Mazda SUV on Sneydes Road about 1pm on Saturday, 19 October.

The driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene, hit a police vehicle and struck a First Constable, knocking him to the ground.

The injured police officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The 21-year-old driver has been charged with aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, assault police, recklessly cause injury, resist police, theft of motor vehicle, drive whilst disqualified and drug offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
