Police Charge Man After Police Operation - Chippendale

A man has been charged following a police operation in Chippendale yesterday.

About 1.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 26 November 2024), police were called to a hotel on Broadway at Chippendale, regarding a guest refusing to leave his room after being asked by management to leave.

Police were told that the man was allegedly in possession of a firearm.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command, along with specialist police officers, attended and formed a perimeter.

A short time later, police managed to speak with a 43-year-old man.

He was subsequently arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Police established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

The man was charged with three counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity.

He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 27 November 2024).
