Police Charge Man After Port Melbourne Death

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following a fatal assault in Port Melbourne last week.

A 36-year-old Port Melbourne man was charged on Monday, 11 November with murder.

He has been remanded in custody to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 May, 2025.

The charge follows an incident on 8 November where an 80-year-old South Melbourne man was located injured in an alleyway on Rouse Street just before 10am.

The man subsequently passed away at the scene.

The Port Melbourne man was arrested in a nearby carpark later that afternoon and taken to hospital under police guard.
