Police Charge Man After Port Melbourne Stabbing

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged stabbing in Port Melbourne earlier this week.

It is alleged a man assaulted a shopkeeper with a knife in a shop on Bay Street about 9.40am on 17 September.

The 64-year-old Port Melbourne woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at a property on Pickles Street yesterday morning.

The Port Melbourne man was interviewed by detectives and has been charged with attempted murder.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 11 December, 2024.
