Police Charge Man After Pursuit At Bathurst

A man has been charged following an alleged pursuit in the state's west.

About 10.50pm on Sunday (1 December 2024), Highway Patrol officers attached to Chifley Police District were conducting patrols on Mitchell Highway, Vittoria when they detected a motorcycle allegedly speeding.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it allegedly failed to do so, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued for about 10kms through Dunkeld before being terminated.

Following inquiries, a short time later officers attended a home a home on George Street, Bathurst, and located the alleged rider.

A 45-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he allegedly refused to undergo a breath test.

The man was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 20 km/h – estimated, refuse or fail to submit to breath test, refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis, and breach AVO.

He was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court today (Monday 2 November 2024), where he was again refused to reappear on Wednesday 18 December 2024.
