A man will face court today charged following an alleged pursuit in Sydney's west early this morning.
About 2.20am today (Monday 23 September 2024), officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attempted to stop a grey Mercedes sedan on the M4 Motorway, Homebush West.
When the sedan allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated before the vehicle collided with a Haval SUV at the intersection of Centenary Drive and Marlborough Road, Homebush West.
The Merecedes stopped a short time later and the driver - a 19-year-old man - was arrested.
His passenger – also 19 - was not injured.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the driver of the SUV - a 40-year-old man - who did not require further treatment.
The driver of the Mercedes was subjected to a roadside breath test with allegedly returned a positive result.
He was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, drive with middle range PCA, negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm) and not comply with P1/P2 high performance vehicle restriction.
He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Monday 23 September 2024).
