Police Charge Man After Pursuit At Liverpool

A man and will appear in court today charged following an alleged pursuit in Sydney's' southwest yesterday.

Just after 8.30pm (Sunday 23 February 2025), officers attached to the Police Dog Unit were patrolling on Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, when they attempted to stop a Black Honda sedan – believed to be stolen.

When it allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated before extra resources from Liverpool City Police Area Command, Fairfield City Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command assisted.

The pursuit continued through the Ashcroft area where the sedan allegedly crashed into a marked police vehicle – attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command – parked on Gabo Crescent for an unrelated job.

The pursuit was terminated on Elizabeth Drive, Ashcroft, due to safety concerns.

Following inquiries, the vehicle was located abandoned on Edensor Road, Edensor Park, before police arrested a 33-year-old man nearby.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for assessment under police guard.

Upon his release from hospital, he was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly / furiously or speed / manner dangerous, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, licence expired within the last 2 years, enter inclosed land not prescribed without lawful excuse, possess prohibited drug and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen,

He was refused bail and will appear before Liverpool Local Court today (Monday 24 February 2025).
