A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney's south overnight.
About 12.30am (Tuesday 13 August 2024), officers attached to Cumberland Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a grey Ford Ranger, after it was detected allegedly exceeding the speed limit on Alfords Point Road, Menai.
When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued along Fowler Road Illawong, before the vehicle reversed into the front of a police car, and crashed into parked vehicles on Fowlers Road.
One vehicle was pushed through a garage door and forced another over a cliff edge where it came to rest about 10 meters below.
The driver fled on foot; however, the passenger, a 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
He was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 5 September 2024.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
