Police Charge Man After Pursuit In Sydney's South West

A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 6.30pm last night (Thursday 12 December 2024) police observed a sedan bearing allegedly altered number plates travelling on Rodeo Road, Gregory Hills.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle and when it did not stop, a pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, the sedan allegedly collided with a police vehicle.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

With the assistance of PolAir, the vehicle was observed stopping at Victoria Road, Macquarie Fields, where the driver was seen leaving the scene.

Following a search of the nearby area, with the assistance of the Dog Unit, the driver– a 32-year-old man – was located and arrested.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with:

· Two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

· Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly

· Trespass on prohibited Commonwealth land

· Use class A vehicle displaying altered number-plate

· Drive unregistered vehicle on road or road related area

· Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc

· Use uninsured motor vehicle on road

· Refuse or fail to submit to breath test

· Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and

· Affray.

The man was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 13 December 2024).
