A man will face court today charged with traffic, fraud and domestic violence-related offences in the state's central west.
About 10am yesterday (Tuesday 12 December 2023), police were patrolling Baradine Road, Coonabarabran, when they attempted to stop a Ford Falcon, to speak with the driver.
When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. A short time later it was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later police located the vehicle with two passengers outside the car, after it left the road and hit a dirt mound on Black Pines Road, Bugaldie. The driver fled into bushland and no one was injured.
Police received reports a quad bike was stolen from a property on Baradine Road, Baradine, about 1pm.
Following inquiries, about 10.10pm, police attended a home on Masman Street, Baradine, and arrested a 27-year-old man.
He was taken to Coonabarabran Police Station and charged with:
- police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously,
- unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR (two counts)
- use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed (two counts)
- use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road (two counts)
- use uninsured motor vehicle on road (two counts)
- dishonestly obtain property by deception
- take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO, and
- breach of bail.
Police will allege in court the man failed to pay at a service station in Coonamble on Monday (11 December 2023), and was involved in a domestic incident yesterday (Tuesday 12 December 2023), with a woman known to him.
The man was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 13 December 2023).
