A man will face court today charged following a pursuit in Sydney's south west overnight.
About 9.45pm yesterday (Friday 9 August 2024), officers attached to South West Metropolitan Region were conducting patrols on the Hume Highway at Warwick Farm, when they detected a vehicle allegedly travelling 112km/h in a signposted 70km/h zone.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Cabramatta Road, however, when the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
With the assistance of PolAir, the vehicle was sighted travelling from Warwick Farm through multiple suburbs, before the vehicle stopped on Melbourne Street, St Johns Park.
Police arrested the driver, a 23-year-old man, and spoke to his passenger, a 17-year-old boy.
The man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 30 km/h – Lidar, and not stop vehicle when directed to do so.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 10 August 2024).
