Police Charge Man After Pursuit - Whalan

A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney's west.

About 1pm on Thursday (26 December 2024), Highway Patrol officers observed a Mazda sedan exiting a petrol station on Boldrewood Road, Whalan.

Initial checks revealed the vehicle registration was cancelled. Police activated lights and sirens however, the driver allegedly failed to stop when directed, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through the areas of Blackett, Emerton and Dharruk but was terminated due to safety concerns.

CCTV from the petrol station was obtained and an investigation commenced into the driver's identity.

About 6pm yesterday, Saturday 28 December 2024, officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command arrested a 19-year-old man at a home in Neriba Crescent, Whalan.

He was taken to Mt Druitt police station and charged with:

  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
  • Drive whilst disqualified
  • Use unregistered registrable class A motor vehicle on road
  • Use uninsured motor vehicle on road

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today, Sunday 29 December 2024.
