A man has been charged after a serious crash in Sydney south west over the weekend.
About 7.50pm (Saturday 29 March 2025), emergency services were called to Fenwick Street, Bankstown, after reports a vehicle had crashed into a parked car.
Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedic, who treated the passenger, a 23-year-old woman.
She was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing which allegedly returned a positive result.
He was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing and treatment.
The parked car was unoccupied at the time - no other injuries have been reported.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with the assistance of Crash Investigation Unit.
The man was later discharged from hospital and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), and prolong, sustain etc loss of traction.
He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today (Monday 31 March 2025).
