A man has been charged following a shooting in the State's Riverina.
Emergency services responded to reports that a man had been shot at a home on Carrathool Street, Griffith about 11.15pm on (Saturday 16 March 2024).
A 44-year-old man presented to Griffith Base Hospital with an alleged gunshot wound to his leg, before being transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were told that three males forced entry into the premises, before the man was allegedly shot in the left leg.
A second male resident of the home was also allegedly threatened with a firearm but was not injured.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 8pm on Sunday 17 March 2024, a 31-year old man was arrested at Griffith Police Station.
He was charged with discharge firearm intent cause grievous bodily harm, attempt to discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – inflict grievous bodily harm.
He appeared before Griffith Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 18 March 2024) and was refused bail to reappear at the same court tomorrow (Wednesday 20 March 2024).
