Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged firearms incident in Weir Views on Tuesday, 12 November.
An allegedly stolen vehicle, believed to have been stolen in a carjacking in Snake Valley earlier in the day, was observed around the Melton area about 3.40pm.
The vehicle was monitored by Police Air Wing to Leon Drive when the man got out of the car and allegedly fired shots at police.
Police were not physically injured.
The armed male allegedly entered a house on Leon Drive where two occupants, a man and a toddler not known to him, were inside at the time.
Police continued to negotiate with the offender and the man and toddler were able to leave the address.
The occupants were not physically injured.
The man allegedly fired at police once again, police returned fire and the police dog was deployed to assist with the arrest which took place just after 6pm.
Detectives have since charged a 26-year-old Snake Valley man with the following:
• Aggravated carjacking (firearm)
• Five counts of assault police
• Five counts of discharge firearm reckless to safety of police officer
• Two counts of reckless conduct endangering life
• Two counts of false imprisonment
• Theft of motor vehicle
• Threat to inflict serious injury
• Prohibited person possess firearm
• Reckless conduct endangering serious injury
• Drive manner dangerous
• Attempted aggravated carjacking
• Criminal damage
• Trespass
• Make threat to kill
• Prohibited person use firearm
He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court this evening.
