Police Charge Man After Stonnington Assaults

Detectives from Taskforce Echo have charged a man as part of their investigation into two separate incidents in Stonnington earlier this month.

A 39-year-old Tarneit man was arrested at his Tarneit home yesterday and interviewed by police.

The man, who is a patched member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, was subsequently charged with common law assault, affray, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, unlawful assault, use threatening words, fail to notify Firearm Prohibition Order registry of change of address and possess prohibited weapon.

He faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded to appear again on 4 September.

The charges follow incidents in Windsor on 13 August and an incident in Prahran on 18 August.

On 13 August, the man allegedly attempted to enter a store on Chapel Street about 11.15pm.

After security prevented him from entering, he became physically aggressive and assaulted one of the male security guards.

On 18 August, the man was allegedly involved in a brawl outside a Malvern Road night club in Prahran just after 3.45am.

He was initially involved in a physical altercation with a 23-year-old Rowville man before a large number of other people became involved.

Yesterday police released CCTV from the second incident and are hoping to identify those who were involved in the brawl.

Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
