Werribee police have charged a man following an alleged police ramming in Tarneit this morning.
Officers on patrol first spotted a silver Ford Ranger driving erratically on the Princes Freeway near Laverton about 1am.
Police attempted to intercept the Ford but were unsuccessful.
It is understood the Ford continued to travel along Palmers Road, before almost colliding with a truck on Forsyth Road a short time later.
The Ford eventually came to a complete stop on Dylan Street, before allegedly reversing into a police vehicle.
The officers inside were not injured, and the 35-year-old Footscray man was arrested at the scene.
He has since been charged with:
• intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving
• 3 x possess drug of dependence
• 2 x fail to stop at police direction
• possess controlled weapon
• possess dangerous article
• exceed speed-limit where a speed-limit sign does not apply
• drive under the influence
• resist police officer
He was bailed to appear before Werribee Magistrates' Court on 1 September.
