Police Charge Man After Vehicle Stop In Forbes

A man will face court following a vehicle stop and subsequent search of a home in the state's central west yesterday.

About 11am (Tuesday 30 July 2024), officers attached to Central West Police District stopped a blue Nissan Navara on Wyndham Avenue, Forbes, following reports of a firearm in the car.

The Nissan stopped and police spoke with the driver – a man aged 22 – and passenger – a man aged 25 – before they commenced a search of the car where they located ammunition casings.

Shortly after police searched a home on Calarie Road, Forbes, where they located two firearms, ammunition, and firearm parts.

Both men were arrested and taken to Forbes Police Station.

The 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Forbes Local Court on Tuesday 17 September 2024.

The other man was released pending further inquiries.
