A man and a woman will face court today following a pursuit in Sydney's south west.
About 2:30pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 July 2024), officers attached to St George Police Area Command were patrolling Belmore Road Riverwood, when they observed a white Range Rover driving erratically.
Officers attempted to stop the car for the purpose of a breath test, and when it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued onto the M5 at Riverwood where the vehicle came to a stop.
The three occupants were removed from the vehicle and were subject to searches.
The vehicle was also searched, with police allegedly locating and seizing an amount of drugs and a knife.
A 41-year-old man, who police allege was the driver, and a 31-year-old woman, were arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station. The third occupant was not arrested.
The 41-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
The woman was charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug.
Both were refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 4 July 2024).
