A man and a woman have been charged following a pursuit through the state's northeast yesterday.
About 3.20pm (Thursday 13 January 2022), officers attached to Oxley Highway Patrol were patrolling Cole Road, Tamworth, where they saw a silver sedan accelerate at speed from the area.
The driver allegedly failed to stop as directed by police, and a pursuit was initiated, it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
With the assistance from PolAir 7 the vehicle was tracked on back roads throughout Tamworth, Currabubula, Caroona, Pine Ridge, Bundella and Harrisons Plane Lane, Pine Ridge, where the sedan came to a stop due to a flat tyre.
Officers attached to Oxley Highway Patrol and Western Region Enforcement Squad and High Risk Domestic Violence Team commenced a foot pursuit and the pair were arrested a short time later.
Police searched the sedan, locating and seizing cash, cannabis, suboxone strips, methylamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The 30-year-old woman was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with an outstanding arrest warrant for a traffic-related offence.
She was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 24 January 2022.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Quirindi Police Station for mandatory testing before being taken to Tamworth Police Station.
He was charged with supply prohibited drug, two counts of possess prohibited drug, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed, deal with property proceeds of crime and use Class A vehicle number plate obscured/defaced.
The man was refused bail at Tamworth Local Court to re-appear on Monday 17 January 2022.
