A man will face court today charged following an investigation into the theft of motor vehicles in the Tweed/Byron area.
In 2020, officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District established Operation Marauder in response to an increase in property offences, namely the theft of motor vehicles, throughout the region.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended a unit on Channel Place, Kingscliff, about 5.50pm yesterday (Friday 15 April 2022), where they arrested an 18-year-old man.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with;
- take & drive conveyance w/o consent of owner
- drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- drive conveyance taken w/o consent of owner (three counts)
- dispose etc property stolen outside NSW (two counts)
- be carried in conveyance taken w/o consent of owner (two counts)
- licence expired less than 2 years before (three counts)
The man was refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court today (Saturday 16 April 2022).
Investigations under Operation Marauder are ongoing.
