Police Charge Man Over Drug Offence At Auburn

A man will face court over an alleged drug manufacturing offence in Sydney's west.

About 6pm on Tuesday (25 June 2024), emergency services were called to an address on Station Road, Auburn, following reports of smoke coming from a unit.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and evacuated residents as a precaution without injuries being reported.

A short time later Fire and Rescue NSW entered the unit and found a clandestine laboratory had exploded.

Police conducted a search in the unit block and seized an amount of substance, believed to be methylamphetamine.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Following extensive inquiries, about 8pm on Friday (4 October 2024), police arrested a 27-year-old man at Sydney International Airport.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with take part manufacture prohibited drug more than or equal to large commercial quantity.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday (5 October 2024) where he was refused bail to reappear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday (27 November 2024).
