Police Charge Man Over Drug Supply - South West Sydney

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to import 78 kilograms of cocaine.

Strike Force Meadowlake was established by Bankstown Region Enforcement Squad on 5 March 2024, to investigate the importation and supply of prohibited drugs in the South West Metropolitan region.

Following extensive investigations, at 11.30am today (Wednesday 3 July 2024) officers attended a correctional facility at Silverwater and arrested a 40-year-old man.

He was charged with possess commercial quantity unlawful import: border controlled drug.

Police will allege in court that he imported 78 kilograms of cocaine in 2.25 tonne of cocoa powder.

The man appeared in Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 3 July 2024), and is due to appear before the same court tomorrow (Thursday 4 July 2024).

Investigations under Strike Force Meadowlake are ongoing.
