Police have charged a man with serious drug offences, after allegedly locating a significant quantity of cannabis at a Carrara home this morning.
As part of ongoing investigations into the supply of dangerous drugs on the Gold Coast, detectives executed a search warrant at property on Ancona Street around 8am, where they allegedly located more than one kilogram of cannabis, around $17,320 in cash, equipment used to package drugs and other evidence of an active drug supply business.
A 31-year-old Carrara man was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with 16 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of producing dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils, possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a drugs offence.
He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday April 30.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of the Gold Coast CIB said investigations into the supply of dangerous drugs will continue to be a daily occurrence, with offenders liable for significant penalties.
"Offenders can expect that unless they change their behaviour, police could come to their door at any time, day or night" Detective Inspector Smith said.
