Police Charge Man Over Fatal Crash In Clifton Hill

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Clifton Hill on 30th of August 2023.

The collision occurred when a Toyota coupe that was travelling east along the entrance to the Eastern Freeway collided with the centre concrete barrier before continuing across all 6 lanes and colliding with a traffic control vehicle pedestrian traffic worker.

The traffic worker, a 58-year-old Boronia man, was taken to hospital and died a short time later.

The alleged driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old North Melbourne man, has been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, driving in a manner dangerous, careless driving and exceeding the speed limit.

He has been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 3 June.
