Police Charge Man Over Hillarys Assault

Joondalup Detectives have charged a 40-year-old man after an incident in Hillarys yesterday, Tuesday 5 November 2024, which result in a man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

About 4pm, the 43-year-old victim and his wife were waiting for a ride-share vehicle outside a restaurant on John Wilkie Tarn in Hillarys when they were approached by the accused who was not known to them.

It is alleged the accused man was acting in an intimidating manner before becoming involved in a physical altercation with the victim. During the altercation, the accused allegedly punched the victim to the face causing him to lose consciousness and fall backwards, striking his head on the road.

The victim was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of serious head and facial injuries.

Security staff at the venue detained the accused man until police arrived and took him into custody.

A 40-year-old man from Quinns Rock has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 6 November 2024.
