A man will appear in court today charged as part of an investigation into an alleged assault at Matraville, which left a man in a serious condition.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to Bunnerong Road about 1.30am (Thursday 9 June 2022) and found a man unconscious on the footpath.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 23-year-old man, before he was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition with head injuries.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested at a home in Maroubra about 3pm yesterday (Thursday 9 June 2022).
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today (Friday 10 June 2022).
