A man will face court charged over an alleged pursuit near Wagga earlier today.
Just before 11.00am yesterday (Tuesday 4 June 2024), police were patrolling Bourke Street, Mount Austin Newcastle Link Road, Cameron Park, when they attempted to stop the driver of a red Toyota Camry sedan.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated by police.
The pursuit continued through Tolland and Kooringal before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, police located the vehicle on the corner of Lake Albert Road and the Sturt Highway.
Police arrested the driver, a 26-year-old man.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with seven offences - police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, unlicensed driver, possess prohibited drug (two counts), custody of knife in public place, use unregistered vehicle and not give particulars to other driver.
The man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 5 June 2024).
