A man will face court next month charged over several break and enter offences over a two week period across Sydney.
Strike Force Yapok was established by detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad to investigate several alleged break and enter offences between May and June this year. These include:
- An attempted break and enter at a business no Kenthurst Road, Kenthurst, about 9.45pm on Sunday 22 May;
- An attempted break and enter at a restaurant on Newline Road, Dural, about 3am on Monday 23 May;
- A robbery at a retail store about 4.10pm on Friday 3 June on Levey Street, Wolli Creek;
- An attempted break and enter at a service station on Windsor Road, Northmead, shortly before 5am on Saturday 4 June;
- A robbery about 15 minutes later (Saturday 4 June) at a service station on The Crescent, Toongabbie;
- A robbery at a pharmacy about 12.30am on Sunday 5 June 2022 on the Northern Road, Luddenham;
- An attempted break and enter at a service station on Bringelly Road, Leppington, about 12.50am on Sunday 5 June 2022;
- A robbery at a service station on Pittwater Road, North Manly, shortly after 4am on Sunday 5 June;
- A robbery at a service station on Warringah Road, Forestville, about an hour later on Sunday 5 June;
- A robbery at a service station about 4.35am on Tuesday (7 June) on the Pacific Highway at Berowra;
- A robbery at a service station on Woolooware Road, Woolooware, about 3.50am on Wednesday 8 June; and
- A robbery at a restaurant on Forest Road, Peakhurst, about an hour later on Wednesday morning.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators stopped a Mitsubishi Outlander in a car park outside a licensed premises on Sherwood Road, Merrylands about 3.10am yesterday (Thursday 9 June 2022).
Officers arrested a 40-year-old man at the scene and took him to Granville Police Station.
One of the men was charged with eight counts of break and enter dwelling, and five counts of attempt break and enter dwelling.
He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court yesterday, where he was formally bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 23 June 2022.
As investigations continue, detectives have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is depicted wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper and joggers.
