A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Sydney's inner west.
In July last year, police received reports that a 25-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her, at a home in Ashfield.
Officers from Burwood Police Area Command commenced an investigation, which was later referred to detectives at the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 43-year-old man at Ashfield Police Station about 6.15am today (Thursday 25 February 2021).
A crime scene warrant was later executed at a home in Ashfield.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
The man was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today.
