Police Charge Man Over Shots Fired, Ripley

Police have charged a man after reports of shots allegedly being fired inside a house at Ripley yesterday afternoon, December 2.

Initial investigations indicate around 1.25pm two males arrived at the Ripley Road residence in a white Mitsubishi Magna and a blue motorcycle and have entered the house.

A 71-year-old male occupant has challenged the men at which time it is alleged one of the men has produced a firearm and discharged it in the direction of the victim who was not struck.

The confrontation has continued, and the elderly man was allegedly physically assaulted.

The men have fled the scene in the car and on the motorcycle.

The elderly man was transport to hospital where he was treated for an injury to his arm.

Later that day around 4pm, police have intercepted a vehicle in Bundamba and arrested a man.

A 27-year-old man from Bundamba has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving whilst disqualified.

He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court today, December 3.
