Police Charge Man Over Stabbing - Mid North Coast

A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man near Port Macquarie earlier this month.

About 8pm on Wednesday 12 February 2025, emergency services were called to Mill Street, Laurieton, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended were told two men – who are known to each other – were involved in an altercation before a 43-year-old man was stabbed in his upper body.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene was established as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.

Following extensive inquiries by the Mid North Coast Police District, a 42-year-old man was arrested in Laurieton about 5.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2025).

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 24 April 2025.
