Police charge man over vehicle stealing, firearms

A man has been arrested and charged with stealing six motor vehicles, multiple firearms offences and breaches of bail as part of a recent police operation.

Police will allege the 31-year-old Somerset man stole the vehicles from a secure site on the North-West Coast between 6 July and 28 July 2023.

So far, three of the vehicles have been recovered.

A number of search warrants were executed as a result of the investigation, with three unregistered firearms located on a rural property at Preolenna by a Tasmania Police firearms detector dog.

The man appeared in an out of hours court session last night, and was remanded to reappear on 29 August.
