A man has been charged following an investigation into alleged animal cruelty offences in the Riverina last year.
Officers from Riverina Police District's Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) commenced an investigation following report of animal cruelty towards a dog in June 2024.
The dog was located at Murrumbidgee National Park (Berry Jerry Reserve), Collingullie, on Saturday 8 June 2024, with significant head injuries.
The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital; however, had to be euthanised.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives today (Wednesday 19 February 2025), charged a 46-year-old man with torture, beat etc and seriously injure animal, commit an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, and commit an act of cruelty upon an animal.
The man was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 16 April 2025.
