Police charge man with armed robberies

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a man after two armed robberies in May this year.

The man, a 27-year-old from Malvern East, was arrested by police on 26 August.

He was charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and possession of cannabis.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 2 September.

The charges relate to alleged incidents at a Malvern East newsagency on 11 May and at an Elwood convenience store on 23 May.
