Police charge man with attempted armed robbery at Chelsea bottle shop

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a man following an attempted armed robbery in Chelsea last week.

Police were told a man, allegedly armed with a syringe, entered a bottle shop on Station Street and made threats to the shop attendant before leaving empty handed on Wednesday 16 March about 2.20pm.

A 45-year-old Coburg man was arrested today and has been charged with attempted armed robbery and assault with a weapon.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.
