A man has been charged with break and enter offences on the South Coast over the weekend.
Officers attached to the South Coast Police District commenced an investigation after reports of multiple break and enters at businesses on Clyde Street, Batemans Bay.
Police were told, between 11.20pm and 11.50pm on Sunday 27 October 2024, a man allegedly broke into two businesses, stealing clothing and business documents, before attempting to break into a third business.
Following extensive enquiries, about 6pm on Monday (28 October 2024), officers attached to the South Coast Police District Proactive Crime Team attended a home on Bent street, Batemans Bay, and arrested a 55-year-old man hiding in the roof space.
During a search of the home, police located and seized a number of allegedly stolen items, including clothing.
He was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of break & enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000 and two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
The man was refused bail to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court today (Tuesday 29 October 2024).
